The Great Work (34.9mb ver1.0.1 made by Nicklas Nygren, install .exe) is a great platformer puzzle freeware game. You are the apprentice of Fulcanelli who has just produced the philosopher's stone and you need to find some gold and bring it back to him. A brief storyline with this one but that's all you need. The game has great level scene backgrounds with atmospheric music. Collect and trade tools and other useful items to help you in your quest. Be the hero and bring back the gold but be weary of your subterranean world.
This game was developed for Bautafilm's documentary Alkemistens År, which is the story about Christer Böke who has taken one year off from his well-paid job as an IT-salesman to become a full-time Alchemist.
Game downloads available for Windows, Linux and Mac. You will need a half decent 3D graphics card to play this game. It may play a little choppy in certain areas of the game. If it's too bad to play, exit the game and lower your game settings and reload from your auto game save slot.
