Tonight I found a great little online flash game creator called Sploder! with the option to publish your work and put it on your own website. I spent a couple of hours playing around to see what it could do and it looks very promising. You can save your work that you've done if you want to finish it another time. The graphics are very colourful and with the time I had I made a short, challenging and action packed level.

The online game editor/engine is simple to use, everything is self explanatory with a variety of objects, backgrounds, weapons, floors, walls, traps, enemies and more to use within your game. There are hundreds of tiles to use and I didn't have the time to go through them all but from what I did see looked great, and depending on what type of game you would like to make, there's something for everyone. There are 3 different styles of games that you can make, Platformer, 3D Mission or a Shooter. I gave the platformer a go to see what could be achieved and considering that this was not a game that I spent much time on creating, I thought it turned out well.

There is an option when publishing to set it to 8bit colour and to turn off lighting effects to make the game load quicker on your website and for faster game play but I chose not to do this just to see the outcome. You can also test your game at any time while creating it to make sure that all parts and areas of the game are playable.

Please be aware that the game The Lost Journey will take a few minutes to load up depending on your internet connection speed.

Fixed a problem with the load time for the game. It was taking well over 10 minutes to load up. No one is going to wait that long for a flash game to load so I disabled the lighting effects.

It should now load within a minute.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

PostSubject: Testing a level.   The Lost Journey (made with Sploder! online flash game engine) EmptyMon Sep 20, 2010 6:43 am

Hi.

I'm new in Sploder. I'm making my first game (2 levels so far) When I'm going to "test" second level, game start at first one. Can I test only the level I'm working at? THX!

Daniel

Hi Daniel

I'm not sure about testing levels other than a 1 level game. Is your 2 level game in the 1 game file and not 2 separate game files? This may be a question for the Sploder forum http://forums.sploder.com but I did a search there and couldn't find any information.

If it is 2 levels in the one game file maybe make a shortcut to the end of the first level to the start of the second level, like adding the teleporters. I needed to test a couple of things at the end of my 1 level game so I made a shortcut to jump to the end just to test some things out. Once you have made corrections to your game you can take out the shortcut and publish it.

You may test at any time weather it's a completed level or not.

I hope this helps.
